There’s A Course To Fit Your Schedule

All area food service employees must have an original, valid Food Handler Permit from THD in their possession while at work. To receive a permit, you must successfully complete a THD Food Safety Class. Food Handler Permits are non transferable. The fee for the permit is $20, and may be paid with cash or credit card.

Please note that THD does not accept food safety employee training provided by private organizations (online training or any other training). You would still need to attend a THD training. Please see the THD schedule for in-person class times or go online to take the course at your convenience.

Applicant Verification Requirements

State law requires that all license, permit, or certificate applicants verify their immigration status (lawful presence).  As a result, anyone attending a food handler class or applying for a manager's certificate from the Tulsa Health Department must sign a statement that they are either (1) a United States citizen, or (2) a qualified alien under the federal Immigration & Nationality Act and are lawfully present in the United States.

Duplicates of your food handler permit or manager certification, if still valid and un-expired, can be provided for a $5 fee only at James O. Goodwin Health Center (5051 S. 129th E Ave.) at Food Protection Service Program office. If you completed the course online, log-in to the  account that you created to reprint your permit free of charge at any time.
