The Tulsa Health Department provides quality family planning services to males and females of reproductive age. 

Family Planning Services at THD

THD offers comprehensive family planning services, including physical examinations, laboratory services, pregnancy testing, contraceptives, counseling, and referrals for other THD and community services. Participants are informed of and educated about their options for birth control, including abstinence and natural family planning fertility awareness. Family planning services are confidential and offered in English, Spanish and Burmese.

The Tulsa Health Department is dedicated to providing services to the entire community. Charges for service are based on family size and income. SoonerCare and some private insurances are accepted. No one is denied services based on an inability to pay.

Family Planning Services for Females include:

  • Physical exams which may include
    • Pap smear
    • Breast exam
  • Screening, testing and treatment for STIs
  • Birth control information and supplies
  • Pregnancy testing and counseling
  • Referrals as needed

Family Planning Services for Males include:

  • Physical exams which may include
    • Testicular exam
  • Screening, testing and treatment for STIs
  • Education and counseling on
    • Prevention of pregnancy
    • STIs

Clinic Services for Teens

Adolescents experience greater structural and interpersonal barriers to health care compared to adults. Central Regional, North Regional Health and Wellness Caenter, Sand Springs Health Center, Collinsville Health Center and James O. Goodwin locations are accepting appointments for family planning services for all clients including teens. Call 918-582-9355 and schedule an appointment at one of the mentioned locations to receive family planning/STI services. Parental consent may be required.

Before and Between Pregnancy

  • Many things affect our health and play a role in having a healthy baby.  Whether or not you are planning a pregnancy, follow these health tips:
  • Take a multivitamin with folic acid
  • Know your family health history
  • Live a healthy lifestyle
  • Make healthy food choices
  • Get regular health check ups
  • Maintain good mental health
  • Know your pregnancy risks

Pregnancy Test

THD provides confidential pregnancy testing on a sliding scale fee-for-service. The pregnancy test requires a urine sample and takes very little time. Results are provided at the time of your visit. There are no age requirements.

Vasectomy

A vasectomy is a procedure a man may undergo to achieve what is considered to be permanent birth control. It entails clamping, cutting or otherwise sealing the tubes from each testicle that allow sperm to mix with seminal fluid.
